Start with the guest's own words
Before every recording we read, watch and listen to whatever the guest has already put into the world. The goal is not to find questions they have answered a hundred times, but the gaps between them.
A loose outline, not a script
We write down five or six areas we want to cover and then let the conversation find its own order. The best moments usually come from a follow-up, not from the list.
If you are thinking about your next question, you are not listening to the answer.
After the recording
We cut very little. Long-form means long-form, and we would rather keep a pause than trim a thought in half.
